Denver Police Offer ‘Pups on Patrol’ Class for Dog Owners and Their Pets to Help Fight Crime

The Denver Police Department offers a “Pups on Patrol” class for dog owners and their pets.

The class is designed to educate dog owners to keep an eye out for potential criminal activities while walking their dogs, reported KDVR.

Dozens of dog owners typically take the class, which has been taught in cycles for about a year.

One point in the hourlong class officers drill into students is for owners to text the police instead of calling 911.

Other tips include owners always carrying a phone with them while they’re out and about with their pet, as well as a flashlight.

Dogs become honorary department K-9s after they complete the class.
